De programmeertaal C is een imperatieve programmeertaal, gebaseerd op de programmeertaal B, die zelf weer op BCPL was gebaseerd. Het is een zeer praktische programmeertaal die meer op Algol lijkt dan op andere voorlopers, zoals - in historische volgorde - Fortran, Lisp, COBOL en BASIC.

Ć (onderkast: ć) (c met accent aigu) is de vijfde letter van het alfabet van een aantal slavische talen: Bosnisch, Kroatisch en Pools Als ook van de West Germaanse taal Wymysöryś. Het teken wordt ook gebruikt in andere alfabetten, zoals in alfabetten gebaseerd op het Poolse, waaronder het Wit-Russische Łacinka.
